NEW doll – Little heart messenger

This little guy just happened. One night, recently, perhaps while working on some other art project, I imagined a little friend that could fit in the hand. I started to play with twine and a shape took form.

This weekend, I chanced a short road trip to the arts supply store in St. Albans. I need to drive away once in a while. I so enjoy the isolation of the car. I’ve always loved driving. Anyway, I had a few items in mind, thinking I might add just a small silver heart somewhere on the doll’s attire. However, the selection was sparse this time so I decided to improvise. When I found the red button hearts, I was not certain I would use them at all, but I just felt compelled to get them anyway.

I wanted this little guy to be simple. I like to keep my prices down and very reasonable and sometimes I get carried away spending a lot of time on unnecessary details and feeling that while I am being fair to customers, I am actually cheating myself. I am learning to find balance. Most of all, I am learning that it is the items I keep the simplest that end up being the ones I am most pleased with. Perhaps it is precisely because they seem to flow into being, effortlessly. We always put the energy of our moods into all that we do, somehow. This was a playful and carefree creation.

I am not certain how I will attach the little note cards, but they just jumped at me and I immediately knew that a little love messenger needed a way to convey its message, whether it be indeed to a Valentine or to a beloved friend, parent or sibling.

Several of these will be available at Ornament Studio later this week.
